John H. Wille, president, and the Piqua State Bank, will quietly celebrate a dual 50th anniversary tomorrow. First known as the Farmers State Bank of Piqua, the institution was opened April 13, 1910 with a capitalization of $10,000. J.W. Grogman was president. John Wille has been with the bank since its opening day and became president in 1928. The bank has been in its present building since 1914. Among its first directors were Iolans J.H. Campbell, L.E. Horville and W. S. Kaufman.

Continuing a long tradition, the Iola Kiwanians ate a Good Friday breakfast this morning as guests of C.L. Hoyt, Ross Arbuckle and Tony Immel at the Allen County Country Club. David Holloway sang a religious solo. The Rev. Chester Werbin, a member of the club, delivered a Good Friday sermonette.

Allen County lost 62 people during the past year although the population of Iola and Humboldt increased, Mrs. Maxine Abbott, county clerk, reported. The census was taken by the personal property assessors during the past three months. The county population dropped from 17,078 to 17,016, with most of the decline in rural areas. Iola grew from 6,999 to 7,097 and Humboldt from 2,388 to 2,494. Of the other incorporated cities only Gas City showed an increase, going from 348 to 364.
