The Iola High School Fillies won fourth place in the Class 4A state track meet in Wichita over the weekend. Dan Berg, Fillies coach, was delighted. What a fantastic season, he said, we finish fourth at state, won the regional and league championships and we set six school records. It was a great bunch of kids to work with. Junior Molly Lonergan won the state championship in the discus with a toss of 140 feet, eight inches. Megan Snyder won second in the shot put.

Katrina Regehrs dream as a high school student has been to travel to every continent and learn about the different cultures and people of each one. That dream is coming true sooner than she dared to hope. The Iola High School junior will leave Iola Friday for California and will be in Japan a week later. She was selected from more than 400 applicants to travel to Japan on a prestigious Japan-U.S. Senate scholarship. She will live with a host family for six weeks and participate in their daily lives.
