Dr. C.W. Jackson, veterinarian, who has had his office at 422 S. Sycamore for the past several years, is opening an office at 115 W. Madison, near the Iola fire station. Dr. Daniel Pardee and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mayes will be associated with him.

Frederick G. Apt resigned as city attorney this morning, effective April 15. Col. Apt, who is a veteran of both world wars, has held the office since June 18, 1940, with the exception of the time he spent in military duty.

C.E. Berkihiser, who for 46 years has faithfully reported the happenings of Pleasant Valley for the Register, is laying aside his pencil and copy paper as well as his plow and tractor. Many of those who read his column think of Pleasant Valley simply as the home of C.E. Berkihiser. On March 16, he will be 76 years old and plans to go to California for a good visit with his daughter and grandchildren and other friends and relatives who live out west.

The new McKinley Elementary School will be open to the public Sunday afternoon, Joe W. Ostenberg, superintendent of schools, has announced. He described the building as one of the most modern educational buildings in Southeast Kansas.
