The Iola Public Library received an upgrade Thursday, as crews from Tholen HVAC installed two new drinking fountains with bottle filling stations.
The new wall-mounted fountains are the culmination of over two years of fundraising spearheaded by Melissa Sitler, public services librarian.
Eleven area organizations and individuals pitched in to fund the $7,000 project. Sitler was eager to recognize them. They are: Iola Senior Center, the Iola Masonic Lodge, Allen County Attorney’s Office, Friends of the Library, Anna Mitchell, Kiwanis Club, Thrive Allen County, Walt & Mary Ann Regehr, Anna Mitchell, Stephanie Quincy, and the Southeast Kansas Library System.
The second water fountain is located in office space for the SEK Library System.
The fountains are in memory of Dixie Quincy.
