This September, Iola Public Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover how a single card can open the door to endless opportunities.

With a library card, you can do more than check out books from the SEKnFind Shared Catalog. From free classes and computers to homework help, streaming media, and cultural events, today’s libraries connect communities to information, inspiration, and each other.

THIS YEAR’S theme, “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” is a reminder that libraries are for everyone — no matter your age, background, or goals. This one library card can help you dive into a new hobby, search for your next great read, brush up on tech skills, or help your child succeed in school.

At Iola Public Library, you’ll find:

• eBooks and digital audiobooks through the Sunflower eLibrary Consortium’s Libby app

• Telescopes, board games, and Internet hot spots to check out

• Programs and events for all ages — from Miss Lesa’s weekly story times to Colleen’s Old Timer’s Talking.

• Wireless Internet access inside the building and out in the shelter, plus a solar powered charging bench.

Getting a library card is free, easy, and empowering. For students, it’s a key to academic success. For adults, it’s a gateway to lifelong learning. For everyone, it’s a smart way to stay connected to your community. Now that the Allen Community College Library joined the SEKnFind Shared Catalog, a service of the Southeast Kansas Library System, you can use both libraries with a single library card.

While you are here, sign up for a free State Library of Kansas eCard. You can search your family history in HeritageQuest, check out digital audiobooks and eBooks through Cloud Library, or learn a foreign language with Mango Languages. Families can explore BookFlix and VOOKS, a new animated storybook program, with an eCard.

Stop by the library at 218 E. Madison to sign up for your card today or visit us online at iolapubliclibrary.org.
