Allen Community College will host Andrew Greene, founder and director of the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, for two guest lectures on Monday.

Both sessions are free and open to the public, as well as Allen students, faculty and staff.

The first lecture begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Stadler Conference Room, where Greene will speak to music students about the history of ragtime.

At 11 a.m., Greene will move to the Allen Theatre to discuss film with theatre and film students.

Greene is widely recognized for his work preserving and performing ragtime and early jazz music. He has appeared at venues across the country and is frequently featured in media for his expertise in America’s musical heritage.

“We are very fortunate to offer this unique opportunity for our students and community to learn from one of the leading voices in ragtime and early film music,” said ACC Music Instructor Patrick Matarazzo.

Both events are free and open to all. Seating is limited and first-come, first-served.
