Allen County awards grants to local businesses

Allen County will award Community Development Block Grants (CDBG-CV) grants to 12 local businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19.

Allen County will award Community Development Block Grants (CDBG-CV) grants to 12 local businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19.

About $45,594 remains available for which eligible businesses may apply, and interested parties should contact Thrive Allen County at 365-8128 or thriveallencounty.org.  for more details.

Round 1 grant applications were approved by the Allen County Commissioners on Aug. 18 and Round 2 grant applicants were approved on Aug. 25. 

Applications are now open on a rolling basis, until the remaining funds are expended.

The overall goal of the program is to help local businesses retain jobs for low-to-moderate income workers by covering working capital expenses such as inventory, wages, and utilities.

Bijou Inc., confectioners, Humboldt;

King’s Sandwich Shop, Iola;

Coal Creek Enterprises, Lazy Daz RV Park, Mildred;

Wavelengths salon, Humboldt;

Red Beard BBQ, Iola;

Papa’s Shop, woodworking, Humboldt;

Outsiders Bar and Grill, Iola;

Tina’s Place, restaurant, Gas;

General Repair and Supply, Iola;

Octagon City, mercantile, Humboldt;
