“Not everyone wants to buy clothes,” admitted Kelly Sigg, owner of Audacious Boutique, downtown’s shopping mecca for women, no matter their age, who trend toward young contemporary fashion wear.
Even so, Sigg has expanded her store’s merchandise to include household items such as picture frames, tea towels, gift sets, mugs and decorative pillows.
The housewares help fill a gap now that McGinty-Whitworth has closed, Sigg said.
That’s not to say Sigg has neglected her fashion wear.
From head to toe, Audacious Boutique is a fashionista’s delight.
Laces — as in shoe strings — are a trendy addition to just about everything this year: Sweaters, tunics, shoes and hand bags.
“Last year, everything had fringe,” Sigg said. “This year, it’s laces or a laced tassel.”
Another thing that sets this year apart from last is the move from infinity scarves to blanket scarves and stocking hats topped with fur puffs.
The introduction of Kendra Scott jewelry has been extremely successful. In fact, last week the display case held only three items, though a shipment of 50 pieces would soon solve that problem.
Certain lines of the jewelry are exclusive to boutiques, Sigg said. The Elisa necklace, a bar-shaped pendant, is especially popular, she said.
Audacious also sells shoes and boots, leggings and jeans, hand bags and wallets, slippers and mittens: Everything for a young, contemporary look.
Sigg’s predominant clientele is from age 35 to 50, “but I believe in growing bolder as we grow older,” she said, dismissing the idea that a woman’s age should dictate her look.
Coming soon to Audacious is formal wear for men by Jim’s Formal Wear.
Sigg is adding a dressing room and display area in what once was a storage room in the back of her store for the new line that will make every guy look his best for that special occasion.
TO ACCOMMODATE holiday shoppers Audacious is open on Sundays the month of December. Starting Dec. 14 she will remain open until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursdays and extend her Friday hours from 10 to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
