SAVONBURG — Friends of Cody Wilson are hosting a community benefit for the teenager injured in a March traffic accident.

Wilson suffered extensive injuries to both legs in the single-car accident near Savonburg March 13.

Cody Wilson, 14, was a passenger. His sister, Westina, was driving.

His father, Rob Wilson, Savonburg, had just days prior to the accident been hired to work for the Kansas Department of Transportation, but did not yet have health insurance coverage.

Proceeds from the April 28 benefit will help the family with assorted expenses.

The activities begin at 5 p.m. in the Savonburg Community Building with bingo games. Serving begins at 6 o’clock with hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts, potato salad, baked beans, dessert and drinks on tap.

A quilt and other items donated by local merchants will be auctioned.

Those unable to attend may still donate to the Wilson family by sending checks to 101 S. Walnut St., Savonburg, KS. 66772.
