When the Register put out the word it wanted to recognize area veterans by way of individual submissions, the response was overwhelming. In fact, forms and photos continued to arrive past the point we could include them in today’s paper.
From all across Allen County, more than 180 families chose to honor their veterans. Some listed their medals and various recognitions. Others dug up priceless photos. The brevity of what we could include is only a hint of the stories many shared with us as they brought in their keepsakes.
For us, it was an exercise in humility to recognize the many in our midst who have served their country through the armed forces. We think you’ll agree as you take the time to view their names, photos, and tours of duty.
