Think your bowl is the hottest? The beefiest? The best? Enter it in the Sidelines Bar-n-Grill Farm City Days Chili Bowl cook-off.
Winners — first to third place plus a People’s Choice — will split a $250 pot.
At least one crock pot of chili is required for tasting, noted Jenise Wade, Sidelines owner and contest sponsor.
The contest is an open class, non-sanctioned event, she said, “for fun, trophies and bragging rights.”
Winners will be posted on the Sidelines MVP Hall of Fame wall, she said.
Entry forms for the contest can be picked up at the Iola Area Chamber of Commerce, 208 W. Madison Ave., or printed off the Farm-City Days website, farmcitydays.com. A $10 entry fee is required to participate. Registration closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Chili should be brought, ready to eat, in an electric crock pot to the contest tent on the Iola square at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 16
From 11 to 2, the public will be able to sample all the entries and vote on their favorites.
Contest judging by a panel of select Sidelines regulars will be at 2.
“They know their chili,” Wade said of the judges.
Prizes will be awarded on the square at 2:30 p.m.
