The Humboldt Senior Center will get a facelift.
Commissioners approved two projects, one for $1,536 from Decorator Supply, Iola, for new carpet; the second, for $135, will have the center’s name repainted on the front window. Some roof work and repainting of the building’s front are the only remaining items on patrons’ wish list.
Security will be ramped up a tad at the courthouse, on the state Motor Vehicle Department’s nickel.
Ron Holman, maintenance supervisor, told commissioners two surveillance cameras would be installed where MVD workers renew driver’s license, in a second floor room at the head of the west stairway. One camera will monitor people coming to the room, the other will track activities within the room.
Commissioners discussed merit raises for department heads, both elected and appointed, but put off decisions until next Tuesday.
