LA HARPE — It would require a mighty big ribbon, but a new bathroom vanity makes a great Christmas present, said Don Diebolt, owner of Diebolt Lumber & Supply.
The lumber yard compound south of La Harpe is a decorator or builder’s delight, and special sales make items like that cordless power drill simply irresistible.
No kidding. The DeWalt 18 volt cordless drill is now on sale for $129, down from $239.99.
“It’s probably our most popular item,” Diebolt said of the wide variety of power tools he sells.
As for big-ticket items, Diebolt said his packages for storage buildings sell well.
In demand are the three-door 30 x 40 x10 post frame building packages that include labor, concrete and materials for $18,000.
“We do it all,” Diebolt said of the construction of the wood frame and steel skin buildings that are used primarily for storage or as garages. The three-door model “can accommodate your car, pickup and boat,” he said.
SHOWROOM DISPLAYS at Diebolt make even the most unimaginative dream of possibilities for interiors or exteriors of their homes.
A Stonecraft display shows how the concrete faux rock can warm up an otherwise drab facade.
Of special note is a new line of vinyl flooring manufactured by IVC that is perfect for the mistake-prone layman.
“It can be put down and then pulled back up again,” Diebolt said. Its adhesive is applied with a paint roller, he said, and allows for frequent realignments. What also makes it a favorite is its lack of seams and the ability to make repairs undetectable to the naked eye.
Diebolt lifted a pre-cut triangle from a section of the tile to prove his point. The vinyl tile comes in a myriad of colors and patterns, perfect for any room in the house.
Another flooring choice is engineered wood, which “can be better than raw wood,” Diebolt said. Its advantages are that it can be laid atop concrete and other places “where raw wood can not because it moves too much.” Engineered wood sections “don’t expand or contract,” he said.
A RAINBOW of paint is now on sale, also making it a good time to spruce up one’s walls.
Diebolt carries Sherwin-Williams’ Do It Best Best Look line of paints, with special prices on pastels and the many hues of white.
Practical gift-giving items include battery packages on sale from $89.99 to $59.99, air compressors for both brad and finish nailers, framing and roofing nailers on sale for $129 from $269, chainsaws marked down $20 from $139.99 and — what may be the best deal in the store — a five-shelf chrome storage kit for $39.99, down from $89.99.
With winter approaching, portable heaters are in demand, Diebolt said.
He has two models that will heat up to 1,000 square feet. A wall-mount 30,000 BTU model is on sale for $188 (from $247.99) and an electric heater is “always on sale” for $297, he said.
For hunters, the Little Buddy radiant heater can keep them toasty for more than five hours, Diebolt said. The handy heaters are on sale for $54.95, down from $74.99.
