The Eagle family, owners of Eagle Valley Storage in Gas, raised the standards for family support 2½ years ago when one of their own, Sandy Clifton, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
When Clifton was diagnosed, her sister Debbie Eagle put together a multi-family storage unit sale to raise money to help with medical bills.
“Sandy has had to take off a lot more work because of cancer treatments and so we are raising money to help her pay for medical bills,” Eagle said.
Since the first unit sale, Eagle has been gathering items to sell.
According to Eagle this year they have “piles” of items to choose from. The items have either come from abandoned storage units or donated goods.
“They are not all just throwaway items, a lot of it is what people intended to keep,” Eagle said. “And a lot of people donated some great things.”
Some of the items Eagle has on sale are old comic books, dish sets, office supplies, books, tools, couches, dryer, clothing and recently she attained a hospital chair in good condition.
Those are only some of the items Eagle will have.

EAGLE says her sister has been in good spirits and is fighting the cancer vigorously.
“Sandy really tries to help herself out,” Eagle said. “She lives a very healthy lifestyle, exercises every day and eats good foods. She is an inspiration to me. I couldn’t do what she does for three days and she has been doing it for three years.”
Clifton works full-time and has three children Tirzah, Malachi and Nathaniel.
“Her kids really love her and they realize all she does,” Eagle said.
Another thing that keeps Clifton going is her strong Christian faith and Eagle’s church has helped her out multiple times.

THE sale will be Oct. 19-20, Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a second sale the following weekend Oct. 26-27, Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
