Area law enforcement agencies appealed to the public once again Monday for assistance in finding Garrett Grimm Cleaver, who remains missing after arming himself with an assault rifle and fleeing police in a chase Nov. 21 in southern Allen County.
Cleaver, Colony, faces involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from a fatal traffic accident in 2009 in Neosho County, in which a New Jersey man died.
Cleaver was a passenger in a car that was stopped in Humboldt for a reported seat belt violation eight days ago. Cleaver reportedly grabbed the assault rifle, leading officers on a brief foot chase before returning and fleeing in the vehicle.
With officers in pursuit, the car crashed near the intersection of 2000 Street and Iowa Road.
He has not been seen since.
In a joint statement with Attorney General Derek Schmidt, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department said Cleaver should be considered armed and dangerous.
Cleaver, 26, also is wanted in Missouri for a probation violation. He faces charges of fleeing and eluding officers and criminal possession of a firearm as well.
He is about 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 180 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on Cleaver’s whereabouts should contact the Allen County Sheriff’s office at (620) 365-1400 or call 911 or local law enforcement.
