Ryan Rogers, 27, Fort Scott, was arrested early Thursday evening after he led officers from several jurisdictions on a high-speed car chase through Allen, Neosho and Bourbon counties.
The incident also put Rogers’ 4-year-old son, a passenger, at risk, said Tom Williams, Allen County sheriff.
“He was driving 85 to 90 mph over rock and narrow hard-surfaced roads,” Williams said. “He put his son’s life in jeopardy for a $100 ticket (for speeding) that he might not even have gotten had he stopped initially.”
The chase started at 5:33 p.m. six miles east of Humboldt, went into Neosho County, back into Allen and finally concluded an hour after it started in Bourbon County.
Rogers “was arrested without incident once he stopped,” said Deputy Tim Beckham.
He was arrested for felony endangerment of a child and felony fleeing and eluding a police officer.
Officers from all three counties, Humboldt, Iola and the Highway Patrol were involved in the chase.
LATER Thursday evening officers spent a couple of hours tracking down a man who reportedly had threatened to harm himself.
His vehicle was found near Allen County Airport shortly after dark and the man, whose name was not released, was found nearby at 11 o’clock. He was taken into custody for care and treatment.
