Iola firefighters check the engine compartment of a minivan Monday evening after the vehicle burned on U.S. 54, just east of Kentucky Street. The driver, whose name was not released by officers, noticed smoke coming from the front of her vehicle, and pulled over to the side of the road, just in time for the fire to ignite.
