CARLYLE — Pat Sigg gave hints to her serene nature on Saturday when she opened her gardens for a labyrinth walk.

“The labyrinth is a lot like life, with all its twists and turns,” Sigg said. “At the center is God.”

About a dozen “circled to the center” at the scheduled 1 p.m. walk in celebration of World Labyrinth Day.

The event is designed to highlight the peaceful practice of meditation.

Sigg built her 11-circuit labyrinth herself over three years. Each concrete form is uniform in size; some imprinted with paw prints of pets.

The circuit is one-fourth of a mile. Sigg’s design is a medieval style based on a cathedral in Chartres, France.

Sigg prefers to walk the circuit at night, when the stones reflect the moonlight.
