The first of a series of breakfasts celebrating Lent began this morning at Iola’s First Presbyterian Church. Linda Whitworth-Reed of First Presbyterian welcomes guests. The moment was bittersweet for Whitworth-Reed who is retiring from the ministry. She and her husband, the Rev. David Reed, are moving to Conway, Ark.
Next Wednesday’s breakfast is at First Christian Church, corner of Kentucky and Oregon Road. Serving begins at 7 a.m. and is followed by a brief service. The Iola Area Ministerial Association organizes the series. All are welcome.
