Allen Community College has named Dr. Tara Lindahl as its new dean of academic affairs, pending formal approval by the college’s Board of Trustees at its April 14 meeting.
Lindahl accepted the position following a highly competitive national search that attracted more than 35 applicants.
She is expected to begin her role in May.
“This was an outstanding search with a deep and talented pool of candidates,” said Allen Community College President Lyvier Leffler.
“Dr. Lindahl’s experience, leadership and commitment to student success made her the clear top candidate. We are excited to welcome her to Allen.”
Lindahl brings a broad background in higher education and secondary education leadership across Kansas. She holds a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and policy studies with an emphasis in higher education administration from the University of Kansas, a master’s degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Kansas State University.
Most recently, Lindahl served at Kansas State University as director of pre-college pathways, where she worked closely with secondary school partners and academic departments to support college access initiatives and concurrent enrollment programs. Her career also includes leadership and instructional roles in both higher education and secondary education, providing experience in academic operations, faculty collaboration and student pathways from high school through college completion.
