HUMBOLDT — Humboldt High School journalism students brought home the gold in the 2026 Kansas Scholastic Press Association 1A/2A Bison Regional Contest.
The Cubs accumulated a total of 233 points, finishing in first place, while second place competitor Chase County Junior Senior High School had 121 points. Third place went to Uniontown High School. Satanta High School finished in fourth while Central Plains High School took fifth.
“It’s always very exciting when you place in a contest and get to see all of your hard work paying off,” HHS junior Karoline Covey said. “Our program has always worked hard and it helps when we have an amazing adviser guiding us the whole way.”
The students are advised by Hailey Phillips.
