MORAN — A mystery is afoot in the halls of Marmaton Valley High School.
Artemus Ward, a wealthy owner and publisher of Ward Books, has been murdered, and there are plenty of potential suspects with the motive and opportunity to do the dastardly deed.
Such is the plot to the high school’s production of “Murder on the Menu,” which features a pair of performances, at 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday in the old MVHS gymnasium. Tickets sell for $5 apiece.
The ensemble production stars Brady Burton as the murder victim, Yareli Medrano and Kaden McVey as the children and potential heirs to their father’s vast fortune; Andersyn Carr as Artemus Ward’s steely attorney; Colin Ard as another outcast family member; Clarissa Howell as the owner of a struggling eatery; Sophia Heim as the newly elected county coroner; and Brendon Newman as investigative reporter called to the scene. Kason Botts narrates the play.
Co-directors Heather Wools and Jenny Spillman receive plenty of support from others in the production, from stage managers Maxx Bland and Zafirah Fajri to costumers MaKayla Beal and Morgan Leer handling hair and makeup, Lane Lord and Kooper Welch, who are in charge of lights and pose as extras in the play’s dramatic opening; and Emma Louk and Jay Henry for their behind-the-scenes work.
Snacks will be served at intermission.
