UPDATED (6 p.m.): Reports incidate the suspect remains in or near the Neosho River south of Humboldt. A heavy law enforcement presence remains throughout the area. Police have identified the suspect as Aaron Hutton, 29, 5’9″ and 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing boxer shorts and socks. Officers recovered a firearm but still consider him armed and dangerous.
Police were reported to be pursuing a suspect through Iola and Humboldt Wednesday afternoon. Details were not available, but according to reports and a police scanner, police attempted to find a suspect in a robbery in Iola. That caused police to ask for a lockdown at all Iola schools from about 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; the lockdown has ended and classes have resumed as normal.
Later that afternoon, police were reported to be looking for the suspect in Humboldt. Classes were not in session yet in Humboldt; students return tomorrow.
