A contractor has begun a sign replacement project for highways U.S. 54, 169 and 59 in Allen County.
Work was to begin Monday along the 67 miles of highway.
Work should be done by mid-summer, conditions permitting.
Crews from Cooper Construction LLC of Emporia will work in the right of way, and away from traffic lanes, although traffic control will be used when necessary.
The replacement project is pegged at $789,819, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
