High winds wreaked havoc Thursday afternoon as gusts damaged property and knocked over trees.

A local wind advisory noted wind gusts as high as 46 mph in Iola Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The southeast Kansas region was also under a red flag warning throughout the day.
