HUMBOLDT — Walter H. Wulf Jr., long-time president of The Monarch Cement Company, has relinquished his role.
The company announced via press release Wednesday that Wulf submitted his resignation Dec. 1 at the company’s board of directors meeting.
Wulf is not retiring, however, and will remain as chairman of the board and director at Monarch. Wulf has served as president for the past 20 years.
Following Wulf’s resignation, the board elected Kent A. Webber as company president. Webber has been with Monarch since 2013, when he was hired as subsidiary operations manager.
Webber has served as Monarch’s executive vice president since September 2015.
Prior to joining Monarch, he was vice president at Beran Companies, a concrete contractor in Wichita.
Webber has been in the concrete construction business his entire career, starting as a ready mix driver during college and working in many capacities in the industry. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in business administration..
In further action, the board appointed Tony Kasten as assistant secretary-treasurer. Kasten joined Monarch in 2002 as a staff accountant. He was promoted to the position of controller in 2014 and still serves in that capacity. Kasten is a Certified Public Accountant and is a graduate of Pittsburg State University.
