Citywide spraying to suppress mosquito populations will start Tuesday.
A truck-mounted device will spray the colorless and practically odorless Mosquitomist in the south part of town on Tuesday evenings and in the north on Thursday evenings. Riverside Park will get a dose of the spray each evening.
The spray truck moves slowly and has warning lights to alert other motorists.
This will be the 17th year the city has used the same chemical, which has an adverse effect only on mosquitoes.
While the spray is effective, residents also are encouraged to drain water that collects outdoors in vessels or depressions. Pools of shallow, stagnant water are perfect for mosquito breeding.
