MCPHERSON — Marmaton Valley High School junior Sophia Heim picked up a silver medal Saturday, taking second in extemporaneous speaking at the Class 1A State Speech and Drama Championships.
Heim, the sole Marmaton Valley competitor, narrowly missed out on a second state medal, finishing seventh in informative speaking, advancing as far as the semifinal round. The top six finalists receive medals.
