Brian Pekarek, who will become USD 257 superintendent of schools on July 1, will be in Iola Monday and Tuesday to visit with district staff and better acquaint himself with the community.
For an hour starting at noon Monday, Pekarek will be at Pizza Hut to meet whoever might like to stop by.
“I’ll have a pad and pencil so I can jot down positive things people have to say and whatever is on their minds about things that we can do to improve the district,” he said.
Monday morning he will meet with Dr. Craig Neuenswander, who will complete his 12th year as USD 257 superintendent on June 30, and district office staff. In the afternoon he will spend more time with district administrators. That evening he will attend the Board of Education meeting.
Tuesday he will huddle with building administrators and other district staff, and have lunch with Iola High Student Council members.
Pekarek’s wife Robyn will be with him, and will spend some of her time shopping for a home.
He is completing his second year as superintendent of Clifton-Clyde, a consolidated district northwest of Manhattan.
