Allen County Attorney Wade Bowie told the Register Monday afternoon no charges or citations would be filed against about 20 youths who allegedly consumed alcohol the evening of March 1 at a private residence near Moran.
According to an earlier report from the Allen County sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the residence in the 4300 block of Nebraska Road. Bowie said the decision not to pursue charges came after he reviewed information given to his office by deputies.
An aside of the incident was officers drew their weapons when the youths prevented them from entering a garage, where they took refuge when officers arrived.
Once they were let inside the garage, officers put their weapons away, Sheriff Bryan Murphy said, and called the response appropriate.
“The officers had no idea what they might have to deal with,” Murphy said.
