Daniel and Nicole Schowengerdt returned to their hometown of Kansas City for the holiday. “I am one of 10 kids and my parents have 43 grandchildren so we have a large group at Thanksgiving,” Daniel said. “Half of my siblings live in Kansas City and the others all across the country, but almost everyone comes in for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Nicole is an only child, but has lots of aunts and uncles and cousins who all gather at her grandmother’s house. We have all of the normal Thanksgiving staples but also have some traditional Mexican food. Nicole’s grandmother was born in Mexico and you can certainly tell by her incredible cooking. Everyone at the house is boisterous, loud and fun. My mother always insists on having a Bible study at every family get-together. I never fully appreciated it until recently. It’s a time for her to share her passion for God to her children and grandchildren.”

Most precious are the memories we are making. I am so thankful for those. Happy Thanksgiving from the Froggatte family!”

The family of Crystal and Shaun Atwood are staying close to home, said Crystal. “Our day will be spent with family friends. We’re looking forward to good food and great conversations with the people we love.”

“We’re keeping a low profile this year by using the extra time to catch up on some projects around the house,” said Traci Plumlee. Helping out are her husband, Brian, and daughter, Josie. “The boys are slammed with college classes and work, so neither are coming home. Sorry, this isn’t much of a warm and fuzzy Thanksgiving story!”
