Generous prize money will be awarded to this year’s Gingerbread Walk winners. First prize will garner $250, followed by second- and third-prize winners of $125 and $75. A children’s division, for those 12 and under, will get $50, and the “People’s Choice” winner will receive $50 in Chamber bucks.
There’s no fee to enter a gingerbread creation, house or village display, but entry forms must be turned into the local Chamber of Commerce office at 208 W. Madison Ave. by 3 p.m. Friday. The houses will be displayed in local storefronts around the square.
Participants have until Nov. 27 to get their entries in their designated storefront windows.
Carol Sager, Chamber director, said she hopes the prizes will draw a good turnout of entries.
Sager has a list of rules. The displays must be built with all edible items mounted on a rigid piece of plywood or cardboard.
An anonymous “expert” baker will judge the creations, with consideration given to originality, detail, beauty and technique.
The gingerbread houses will be displayed through Dec. 22.
