Calling all fashion bugs and bargain hunters — Friday and Saturday is the annual Iola Sidewalk Sale.

With school starting in a couple of weeks there couldn’t be a better time to hit the pavement looking for back-to-school deals.

Some stores around the square will brave the heat and put some sale merchandise on the sidewalk, while others will keep things indoors.

All the stores are varying slightly on their start time — but the deals will be well worth the unique hours.

AUDACIOUS Boutique, 110 S. Jefferson, will be participating in the sidewalk sale this weekend.

“We will be having a $5 rack, a $10 rack, all body lotions will be half off, shoes will be $10 and there will be an assortment of capris, shorts and tops that will be 50 percent off,” Kelly Sigg, owner and operator of the boutique said.

Sigg said the clothes will be perfect for the classroom.

They will be one of the stores attempting to keep with tradition by placing merchandise outside, but Sigg realizes that the heat will probably become a problem and will move indoors if need be.

They also will be serving ice-cold lemonade.

This will be the boutique’s second year participating in the weekend sale. They had such a good turnout last year that they will be participating again this year, Sigg said.

The sales will begin at noon on Friday and go until 6 p.m. and on Saturday they will begin at 7 a.m. and go until 4 p.m.

ANNIE’S ATTIC, 102 S. Washington, will be staying indoors all day. Their featured sale is that the entire inventory wil lbe  half off except formal wear.

Since Brenda Williams bought the store four years ago, she has been participating in the sidewalk sale, but knows the previous owner used to do it as well.

“We usually have a really good turnout,” Williams said. “Everyone knows we do it every year.”
