Jacob Cooper didn’t let his nerves get the best of him Saturday.

Working on behalf of his sister, Cassie, Cooper loaded more than $800 worth of groceries through the Iola Rotary Club’s fifth annual Grocery Grab.

Cassie Cooper’s name was selected among six finalists for the five-minute shopping spree at G&W Foods.

Cooper was strategic in his approach, targeting the meat section for a wide variety of products. (Rules limited him from taking more than two of any specific meat product, and he could get items there for only a minute.)

From there, he raced up and down the grocery aisles to load everything from soup to soda.

Afterward, Cooper admitted his nerves were especially tense because he was working in his sister’s behalf, and not selecting food for himself.

The Grocery Grab is one of several fundraisers hosted by Rotarians, who spearhead a number of local community service projects.

Other finalists were Sean Clay, Jeff Cleaver, Mark Larson, Humanity House and the Pregnancy Resource Center. All of the finalists received gift certificates.
