On April 20, Chester Williams Jr., 47, of St. Joseph, Mo., will receive the gift of a kidney from his sister, Yolanda (Williams) Samuel, 40, of Greenville, S.C. The transplant will take place at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
The siblings, children of Patricia and Ar-mand (Pete) Pulley Sr., were born and raised in Iola.
Years of untreated high blood pressure led to Williams’ kidneys failing last year. A week before Christmas, use of his kidneys fell to 7 percent and he began thrice-weekly dialysis.
The Pulley family asks the community to remember their children in prayer throughout the surgery and recovery time.
