Jim Talkington filed Friday for the District 3 seat on the Allen County Commission.
Talkington, serving as a trustee at Allen Community College, will seek to fill the position held since January 2009 by Gary McIntosh. McIntosh announced earlier he would not seek re-election.
Talkington also has been a Shelter Insurance agent in Iola since 1991.
District 3 consists of the First, Second and Fourth wards in Iola and South Iola Township.
The deadline to file for county, state and federal positions is noon June 1.
Rob Francis, first-term incumbent, and Gordon Conger, a former commissioner, have filed for the District 2 seat. It contains Iola’s Third Ward and North Iola, Geneva, Carlyle, Deer Creek, Osage and Elm townships.
Dick Works, commission chairman, was re-elected in 2010 to District 1, which contains the remainder of the county, including Humboldt, Moran, Elsmore and Savonburg.
