A 1,200-square-foot addition to Twin Motors Ford is complete.
Crews put the finishing touches last week on Twin’s new showroom and service area. In addition is an inside bay where customers can inspect a potential purchase.
The new building also sports fully accessible restrooms and is considerably more energy efficient, notes Tim Henry, owner.
The completion has been long time coming. Tim and wife Teresa began plans for the massive upgrade early last year. Crews began demolition of the old showroom and offices in early September.
The work was made possible through Ford Motor Company’s franchise improvement effort, a nationwide promotion for dealerships.
“As it was, our store didn’t meet our sales agreement for in-service units in the area, for such things as the size of our showroom and the size of our waiting area,” Henry explained. “They want certain criteria for the customers to buy their Ford products.”
Renovating the old building would have required practically as much work as a full rebuild, Henry noted.
“We were going to have to add here and there, and it wouldn’t have touched our old water lines and electric,” he said. “We finally figured the cost of an entirely new front end would be as much as a renovation and chose that one.”
The new service drive-up area allows customers to deliver their vehicles in an enclosed canopy at the south side of the building. Likewise, the new car delivery area is enclosed.
“This should make it a lot easier on the customers,” Henry said.
All that remains is a decision sometime this spring whether to repave the lot with asphalt or replace with concrete.
“We know the lot needs some work,” Henry said.
The upgrades are the first to the showroom area since the dealership building was constructed in 1968.
The Henrys have owned Twin Motors for more than 12 years.
A grand opening/customer appreciation sale event will be in April.
