Two area residents were arrested Monday in connection with a burglary of dozens of firearms from West Side Bait Shop in Iola.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department announced this morning in a press release that Joshua Cagle, 25, Iola, and Jase Fewins, 21, of Anderson County, were arrested after authorities executed a search warrant of their two residences.
Twenty-five of the 39 guns reported stolen were recovered, according to the press release.
A tip to Allen County Crime Stoppers was instrumental in helping solve the case, Sheriff Tom Williams said.
“Without the tip, and the assistance of all the great agencies involved, this case would have been much harder to solve,” Williams said, “and because of the dangers of firearms on the street in very questionable hands, the public and law enforcement officers would have been at risk.”
Both remain in custody. Court appearances have not yet been scheduled.
