Remember to bring your recyclables to this Saturday’s Hog Fest at the Recreation Community Building in Riverside Park.
“Recycle Row” will have receptacles for eye glasses, aluminum cans, flip flops, newspapers, plastic bags, and plastic beverage containers.
The Hog Fest will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include booths that demonstrate energy savings. Keg’s Pit BBQ will also have a station offering mouth-watering pork and beef sandwiches.
Also bring your light bulbs to exchange for the newer CFL models.
Television crews from KTWU will also be on hand to film activities to do with the Take Charge Challenge in which communities vie for the most energy savings.
Iola is pitted against the communities of Chanute, Fort Scott, Pittsburg and Parsons.
