Because Westar will not rely on generators owned and operated by the city of Iola, the electric line transfer scheduled for tonight has been delayed.
City Administrator Carl Slaugh said Tuesday Westar will conduct the transfer at its own convenience, most likely early next week during the day time.
Area residents aren’t expected to see power interrupted during the procedure so Westar will take advantage of natural sunlight for the work.
City officials also said inclement weather this week may have been a factor in the decision to delay the procedure.
