Ada Louise Stever, 92, of Colony died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Anderson County Hospital, Long Term Care in Garnett, after suffering a stroke on Christmas day.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1919, near Conway, Mo., to William Barton and Nora Elizabeth (Montgomery) Johnson the youngest of five children.

She married Ralph Stever on March 20, 1937, in Conway.  

In 1940, the couple and their son, Lloyd, moved to the Glenwood Community in eastern Coffey County where they farmed until 1947. They purchased and operated the Reppert Store in Harris until 1952, when they moved to Colony. The couple farmed and worked on several rental properties as long as their health permitted. After his death, she continued to live alone with her dog, Brownie. Although she had trouble seeing and hearing things clearly, she continued to be involved with the cattle, crops, rental property and her family.

She is survived by two sons, Lloyd and his wife, Lovara, Kingsville, Mo., and George, Colony; two daughters, Louise Houck and her husband, Gary, Houston, Texas, and Cindy Tinsley and her husband, David, Colony; a brother-in-law, Frank Stever, Odessa, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Colony. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. She will lie in state at the funeral home in Colony from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Condolences may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
