Betty J. Karr, 84, of LaHarpe died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Moran Manor.
She was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Colony, to Lynn C. and Helen M. (Wilcott) Hambrick.
On Feb. 20, 1946, she married Ray Karr at the Allen County Courthouse in Iola. They made their home in the Iola and LaHarpe areas. He died Aug. 20, 1991.
She worked for Smart’s Grocery in LaHarpe, at IMP Boats in Iola for 18 years and at Midland Brake in Iola for six years before she retired.
She enjoyed painting and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s ball games..
She is survived by five children, Joan Zornes and her husband, Richard, Miami, Okla., Linda Parks and her husband, Joe, Yates Center, Carol Long and her husband, Fred, Independence, and Harold and his wife, Marsha, and Kenny and his wife, Patty, LaHarpe; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola. Cremation will follow.
Private inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola at a later date.
