Robert A. “Bob” Peterson, Sr., 59, Iola, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Allen County Regional Hospital.
Bob was born Dec. 3, 1954, in El Dorado, the son of Clifford and Rita (Gravatt) Peterson. He grew up in Kincaid, served in the U.S. Marines and graduated from Allen County Community College.
Bob married Sarha Ann Ellis in 1978 and they made their home in Iola. They later divorced.
He had worked for Young’s Welding, Nelson Quarries and Russell Stover Candies.
Survivors are his sons, Robert A. Peterson, Jr., Clifford Peterson and Derick Peterson, all of Iola; one daughter, June E. Pergeson, Colony; his mother, Rita Peterson, Redfield; three step-brothers, Spencer Newman, LaHarpe, Terry Newman, Yates Center, and John Newman, Baldwin City; one step-sister, Debra Newman, Redfield; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sarah Ann Mueller, his father Clifford Peterson and step-sister Lucy King.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, with a gathering following at Riverside Park Community Building
