Catherine (Kate) Emert died at the home of her daughter on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012.
Kate and her family moved to Iola in 1961. She worked at H.L. Miller & Son and then was office manager at Columbia Metal Products for 24 years, retiring from there in 1993.
She was a member of Kappa Alpha Sorority and enjoyed her hobbies of bowling, quilting, ceramics and china painting.
She was preceded in death by her son Phil, her mother, father, five brothers and her children’s father, Dale E. Emert.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky Shinn and her husband, Alan, Uniontown, and Gale Ludlum, of the home; two sisters, Leona, Phoenix, and Lorene, Bartlesville; grandchildren, Tony and Jennifer Emert, Parsons, Kevin and Diana Shinn, Uniontown, Melissa and Jason Gage, Louisburg, Kathi and Jason Yokum, Humboldt, Diana and Tony Yanez, Parsons, Chris Vernon, Eastland, Texas, Mary Jo and Allan Beiter, Lenexa, and Lawrence Yates, Houston, Texas; 20 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Following cremation, a Celebration of Life visitation will held at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
