Charles Richard Chard, 84, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.
He was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Humboldt, to John Hubbert and Nina Chard.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the Merchant Marines.
On Sept. 21, 1945, he married Maudena Faye Fletcher. She died Dec. 1, 2009.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Iola. He was an active for many years in Lions Club International.
He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Gatling, Arlington, Texas; a brother, Arthur, Minnesota; two sisters, Nancy Chard, Alaska, and Bobbie Chard, Great Bend; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Patty Sue Timming, died earlier.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt. Bishop Harry Lee will officiate.
