Charles Raymond Hardy, born Sept. 1, 1935, departed this earthly realm on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, following a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen (Huggins) Hardy; daughters, Kristen and Eddie Landes, Heather and Peter Root; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stevens, Tiffen Landes and Annastasia Root; one great-granddaughter, Lucy Slocum; and extended family members and friends.
Charles graduated from Iola High School, where he excelled as a multi-talented athlete earning the nickname, Muscles. He was stationed in Hawaii while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Later, his employment with PSO as a line crew foreman led to an equipment failure accident with injuries that ended his career there. Charles then pursued his dream of self-employment by becoming the owner of an AAMCO Transmissions shop. He sold the shop the day after he turned 62 and was able to actively pursue retirement. Hobbies that he loved most included trapshooting and shooting pool. As a member of the national Amateur Trapshooting Association, he became Oklahoma state champion twice, earning multiple trophies and awards yearly. His love of billiards filled many happy hours before and after retirement.
Charles became a perpetual member of the Collinsville, Okla., Lodge No 165, attaining the 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and became a member in Akdar Shriners International.
“Chuck” loved God and was a loving husband and father with a beautiful dimpled smile. He was a good friend to all who knew him. We rejoice that he is now at rest in the presence of Jesus.
Services are at 10 a.m. today at Moore’s Southlawn Chapel-Tulsa. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Grove, Okla. Share memories at www.moorefuneral.com.
