Cleta M. Ewing, 90, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015, at her home in Ottawa.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at Calvary Baptist Church, Ottawa.
Family will meet with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, at Dengel & Son Mortuary.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, at Fairview Cemetery in Mildred.
Cleta was born Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1924, in Iola, the daughter of William J. and Cleona Belle (Adams) Stanford.
She attended schools in Iola and Gas City.
Cleta was united in marriage with Everett E. Ewing June 15, 1942, in Garnett. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2002.
Cleta and her husband started farming in 1946 north of Bronson, until they sold the farm in January 1950 and moved to Iola. In 1952, they moved to the Princeton area, and to Ottawa, in 1954. She has lived in their current home in Ottawa since 1964.
She was a devoted homemaker and also worked 20 years at Mode O Day as a seamstress, 11 years at Parmelee as a mold operator, three years at McDonald’s, and several years cleaning homes in the Ottawa area, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa.
Besides her husband, Cleta was preceded in death by her parents; son, William Franklin “Frankie” Ewing; brothers, Robert and Bill Stanford; sisters, Frances Ewing, Deanie Duncan, and infant sister, Betty Louise Stanford.
Surviving family members include three brothers, Johnny Stanford and wife Susan, Newton, Dale Stanford and wife Martha, Thayer, Mo., and Myron Stanford, Iola; four sisters, Lillian Franklin, Iola, Dorothy Morrison, Pittsburg, Karon Tullo, Bella Vista, Ark., and Joan Smith, Clute, Texas.
