Donald Eugene “Don” Jones, 64, Iola, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at Allen County Regional Hospital.
Don was born Jan. 28, 1951, in Iola, the son of James Allen and Loretta Loraine ( Lee ) Jones. He was diagnosed with polio at the age of six but never let that hold him back throughout his life. Out of school, he worked for eight years at Thompson Poultry before going to work for Gates Rubber in Iola. His 36 years with Gates included eight years at a Gates plant in Red Bay, Ala., from 1990 until 1998. He worked in quality control and was a quality assurance supervisor when he retired in 2012.
Don married Donna Kincheloe and they were divorced. He enjoyed traveling, bow hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. Don was a member of the Iola Elks Club and in Alabama was active in the Lions Club. He married Hazel (Jensen) Rouse and she survives.
Survivors are his wife Hazel; two sons, Bryan Scott Jones and wife Emily, Emporia, and Mike Rouse and wife Dawn, Kingman; two daughters, Kelly Rouse, Gas, and Lorena Wyant and husband George, Carlyle; four brothers, Jimmy Lee Jones, Salina, Allen Jones, LaHarpe, Kenneth Jones, Iola, and William Jones, Gas; three sisters, Janice Trester, Gas, Mary Ann Cooper, Iola, and Viola Boeck, Colony; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Sue Ahne.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow the services.
Memorials may be sent to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility and may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel.
