Emmett Franklin “Frank” Coble, 79, Chanute, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at his home.
He was born in Graff, Mo., on July 11, 1931, the son of Ruel Emet and Florence G. (McCoskey) Coble.
He served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 27, 1950, to his discharge on Nov. 8, 1954 as a 2nd Class Petty Officer.
He was united in marriage to Norma Lawrence on May 1, 1955, in Parsons. She survives of the home.
He was in the cable business for 27 years, during which he managed Cablevision in Chanute before building the cable system in Mound City and Pleasanton, called Amron Cable TV. He ran and serviced those systems until he sold them to WK Communications, and worked for them until his retirement. During this time with WK Communications he purchased The Apple Farm and ran it for more than 10 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chanute, the D.A.V. and the American Legion.
He also is survived by four daughters, Denise Warhurst, Chanute, Debbie Underwood and her husband, Mark, Warrensburg, Mo., Dana Coble, Ottawa, and Dawn Bosic and her husband, John, Scottsdale, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob, Salina; a sister, Yvonne Hunt and her husband, Jim, Humboldt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deedra Coble, and a grandson, Bryan Hazen.
Funeral services were this afternoon at First Baptist Church in Chanute. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be made to First Baptist Church or Cherry Street Youth Center and may be left with Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
