Glenn H. Aydelotte, 80, of Iola died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at his home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1930, at Del Norte, Colo., the son of Ernest and Alice Lenora (Goodwin) Aydelotte. He graduated from Del Norte High School and joined the U.S. Navy. He served during the Korean War and in Vietnam. He retired as a chief aviation machinist after 22 years of service.
On Sept. 2, 1950, he married Maudine Stephens. They were divorced after 47 years of marriage.
He worked for six years as a mechanic in the oil fields in New Mexico and then as a heavy equipment operator for Lea County, N.M., before retiring in 1995.
On April 7, 2005, he married Mae Jones Paxson. They made their home in Iola.
He was a member of Iola Baptist Temple and Iola American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Sheila Williamson and her husband, Jerry, Midland, Texas, and DeeAnn Gibbs and her husband, Neal, Las Cruces, N.M.; four stepsons, Robert E. Jones and his wife, Shyrell, Steven Jones, Richard “Bud” Jones and his wife, Jeri, and Tim Jones, all of Iola; a brother, John Aydelotte, Oregon; four grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle, Melissa and Kristen; and four great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Dustin Ornelas, died earlier.
Cremation has taken place.
Graveside inurnment services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fort Scott National Cemetery. The Rev. Roger Collins will officiate.
